Volvo EX60: New Electric SUV Boasts Class-Leading Range and Fast Charging

Volvo is preparing to launch its EX60, a mid-size electric SUV positioned to become a key model in the brand’s expanding EV lineup. The EX60 is set to be unveiled on January 21st, but Volvo has already released core specifications highlighting its impressive capabilities.

Exceptional Range and Charging Performance

The EX60 will offer an estimated 400-mile range (all-wheel drive configuration) based on comparable testing standards. In Europe, the WLTP range is projected at approximately 810 kilometers (503 miles), surpassing competitors like the Tesla Model Y, which currently peaks at 622 kilometers WLTP.

This places the EX60 at the forefront of range among European electric SUVs. Beyond range, Volvo emphasizes the EX60’s fast-charging capabilities: it can gain up to 340 kilometers (211 miles) of range in just 10 minutes when connected to a 400kW DC fast charger.

Extended Battery Warranty and Family-Focused Design

To address long-term reliability, Volvo will offer an optional 10-year battery warranty. Early images also suggest the EX60 will be available in six- or seven-seat configurations, making it a viable option for larger families. Additional storage compartments shown in the trunk reinforce this focus on practicality.

The EX60’s full specifications and design details will be revealed during a livestream event on Volvo’s website on January 21st.

Volvo’s entry into the mid-size electric SUV market is set to disrupt the segment with its leading-edge range, fast charging times, and family-oriented features. This is a critical move for Volvo as it aims to compete effectively against established players like Tesla and other emerging EV brands.
