June arrived. The hype cycle spun, Microsoft dropped the list, and we looked at it. Underwhelming? Maybe. But look closer. There’s heavy hitter Persona 5 Royal. There’s Undisputed.
Sure the roster lacks a flashy day-one triple-A shooter this cycle. Doesn’t mean you can’t play something great for $10.
Or $23, if you’re bleeding into Game Pass Ultimate and want to play the new stuff on the exact same day it launches. That’s the deal. Hundreds of games. Your Series X, your PC, maybe your phone if you feel fancy.
Here is what arrives this month.
The New Additions
Herdling lands on Game Pass Premium on June 4.
You might know it. It was on Ultimate before. Now it’s back in the rotation for the mid-tier folks. It’s from Okomotive. You don’t play a hero. You lead a herd of Calicorns.
Think about that. A stampede simulation that focuses on bonding.
You guide these mysterious creatures through a decaying city. Forests. Valleys. Mountains. It’s atmospheric. There are no words, just vibes and physics. You solve puzzles, avoid dangers, and make sure the herd sticks together. It’s beautiful. It’s strange. Do you want to lead animals to a summit? You will.
Total Chaos also drops on June 4.
Fort Oasis is the setting. It’s an island. Abandoned.
You are looking for supplies in derelict buildings while something grotesque watches. First-person. Survival horror mixed with resource management. You craft weapons because you have no choice. Radio signals crackle. Strange voices.
The isolation hurts. You feel vulnerable. It’s not about action; it’s about the silence before the jump-scare.
Solarpunk arrives June 8.
Bright colors. Floating islands. Renewable energy.
If you want a game that doesn’t make you feel guilty for burning fossil fuels, this is it. You build sustainable life. Farming. Crafting. Airships. It works with nature, not against it. Play solo. Play with friends. The cooperative aspect is strong here. Automation helps you expand settlements while the sky remains clear and optimistic.
Undisputed comes out that same day, June 8.
Forget arcade flair. This is boxing simulation.
Footwork. Defense. Stamina. You aren’t mashing buttons. You are outmaneuvering opponents through strategy. Licensed fighters. Weight classes matter. If you want Fight Night vibes without the flashiness, check it out.
Persona 5 Royal lands on June 9.
The big one. The JRPG masterpiece that redefined stylish in 2017 and got even better in 2022 with Persona 5 Royal.
Juggling school life in Tokyo. Forming relationships. Breaking into the subconscious to steal the hearts of the corrupt.
The dungeons are stylish. The music is iconic. The mystery deepens beyond what meets the eye. It is a massive time commitment, but worth every second. If you haven’t played it, do yourself a favor.
Beastro joins June 11.
Run a restaurant. Defeat monsters.
Sounds disjointed, but it’s a fantasy deck-builder. The meals you serve affect the cards you get. Cook good food? Stronger attacks. It ties farming and cooking directly into combat strategy. You protect Palo Pori from threats while hunting down a missing mentor.
Frog Sqwad also arrives June 11.
Chaos. Mini-games. Playground logic.
Teams of frogs race through obstacle courses. It’s fast-paced. Local or online multiplayer. Sabotage is key. It’s light, funny, and designed for groups. Just don’t get knocked into the water.
Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions is coming to Preview on June 11.
Exploration. Space. Teamwork.
You travel between planets. Gather resources. Use tools. It’s part of the Astroneer universe. The scale is larger now, focusing on crews and missions rather than solo tinkering. The cosmos holds secrets. Go find them.
Junkster hits on June 16.
Build a vehicle out of scrap. Drive it until it falls apart. Fix it.
Physics-driven creativity. Every part changes handling. Make it fast. Make it tanky. Or make it absurdly impractical and see if it works anyway. An open world of upgrades waiting to be tested.
The Departures
What goes in, must eventually go out.
Microsoft is pulling five titles. If you have them marked “To Play” on your dashboard, check the dates. These vanish before the month ends.
- Jurassic World Evolution 2
- Lost in Random: The Eternal Die
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
- Warhammer 40K: Space Marine (Master Crafted Edition)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
“The subscription model is a lease on your fun, not ownership. When the license expires, so does access.”
We know the drill. Play them before they go. Or keep paying. The wheel turns. Next month’s list is already being written somewhere.
Is it perfect? No. But Persona 5 alone might keep some of us hooked until the showcase surprises hit later in the summer.
What are you grabbing first?
