This includes detailed methods for overdose, drowning, and carbon monoxide poisoning – information the chatbot allegedly provided despite built-in restrictions.
Circumventing Safety Measures
According to OpenAI, Raine violated its terms of service by deliberately bypassing safety features designed to prevent harmful outputs. The company maintains that users are explicitly warned against relying on unverified information from ChatGPT. However, the Raine family’s lawsuit contends that the chatbot facilitated the suicide, offering step-by-step guidance.
