Amazon Prime members now have access to a growing library of free video games through the Luna streaming service. The program, recently relaunched, offers a rotating selection of titles at no extra cost beyond the standard Prime membership fee. This is part of Amazon’s strategy to bundle more value into Prime, making it stickier for subscribers.
What’s Included with Luna?
A Prime subscription automatically grants access to Luna Standard, which includes titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. To play, users need a compatible device (such as a smart TV, Fire TV, PC, or mobile phone) and either a controller, a mouse, or a keyboard. Notably, Amazon has also integrated “GameNight” multiplayer games that can be played using a smartphone as a controller.
February’s New Additions
The latest games added to Luna this February include:
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants
- Alan Wake 2 (survival horror)
- Just Shapes & Beats (music-based)
- Disney Universe
- RiMS Racing
- Time on Frog Island
- Valfaris
- Worms Crazy Golf
- Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
- Disney Planes
- Endzone: A World Apart
Why This Matters
This expansion of free games with Prime is a clear move by Amazon to compete with other subscription services like Xbox Game Pass. By bundling gaming into an existing Prime package, Amazon makes its service more attractive to casual gamers and reduces the friction for new subscribers. The strategy also reinforces the value proposition of Prime, encouraging users to remain locked into the ecosystem.
Amazon is clearly betting on gaming as a retention tool. This push into streaming gaming is likely to continue, with further integration of exclusive titles and partnerships to attract and retain subscribers.
